“We want our judgement over others who’ve wronged us”…
But Jesus shows another way in Matthew 18, ironically just after the Matthew 18 call to restoration of believers comes this encouragement to endure in forgiveness:
As we celebrated communion we we’re reminded how paired we are with Jesus as we symbolically drink his blood and eat his flesh. We become so joined with Him we ingest Him and so, this study paired with communion is a difficult study. Today we say we that Jesus is either:
- more clearly realized as Lord, or
- author of advice that we don’t follow
What Does Jesus Call Us To
But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.
We discussed locating ourselves in the story, and found help in knowing that a museum in our honor of all our sin would help us to better understand the grace that Christ is outlining in this parable.
