Psalm 119:129-136 was a study on the Authority of Scripture and law keeping.
We first looked at Biblical evidence for the authority of Scripture, both Old and New Testaments as we worked our way into the Psalm. We said that:
Keep The Law Psalm 119:129-136Understanding scriptures authority will:
- change how you interact with scripture,
- change how you understand God, and
- give strength to your spiritual life
This known, our study of Psalm 119 showed the Psalmist experience the range of emotions that the Christian experiences, today – highs lows and everything in between. However, knowing that Scripture is an unchanging consistent authority, encourages the Psalmist.
The Psalmist is committed to following after God because of who He is, not what He gives.
What about us, Are we committed to following after God because of WHO He is? If we view the Word as authoritative we will increasingly grow towards that outcome when we engage with, spend time with, and devote our selves to the reading of scripture.
132 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
as is your way with those who love your name.
133 Keep steady my steps according to your promise,
and let no iniquity get dominion over me.
